Home Safety Service

The Home Safety Service can be applied for by, or on behalf of, anyone who is considered to be vulnerable at home. There is no charge for this service but a working telephone landline is essential.

The Home Safety Service team provides a package of technology comprising of a Lifeline unit and a range of sensors protecting the person and their home by means of a 24-hour telephone link to West Lothian Careline.  Sensors provided include a pendant, flood detectors, smoke detector, movement sensors and a temperature extremes sensor.

Research has shown that having Home Safety Service technology installed can make a considerable difference to the length of time people can remain at home in their community, because it helps manage assessed risks and gives additional peace of mind for the people themselves and their relatives and carers.

The Home Safety support staff are experienced in the use and programming of telecare equipment and provide an individualised assessment service and ongoing support in the use of the technology. There are currently over 3000 households in West Lothian with telecare equipment installed.

Contact: the Home Safety Service team for an application pack or more information by calling 01506 771770.
