Dietetics and nutrition are based in Outpatient Department 1 at St John's hospital in Howden, Livingston. We also offer services from health centres, and when necessary, we can make home visits. - Provide a specialist dietetic service to patients with medical conditions
- See patients on a one to one basis
- See patients in groups, for example, diabetes or cardiac classes

You can be referred to the service by your general practitioner (GP), hospital consultant or other health professional. When you have been referred You will receive a letter asking you to phone or write to us to arrange an appointment. At your first visit we will spend some time finding out about your background, your lifestyle and your eating patterns. Once we have enough information you will be given appropriate and relevant information to assist you to make choices and decisions regarding your diet. A plan of care will be drawn up and you will be informed of how many future visits you will require. We will write to your consultant or general practitioner (GP) to update them with your progress.
