Look after your health and have a healthy lifestyle. Eat fresh fruit and vegetables and exercise regularly.

Funded by the Health Improvement Fund, 'Eating for Health' is focused on children and young people, and tackling health inequalities.

The West Lothian food and health steering group works together with a number of organisations to introduce programmes which aim to improve the diet of the population of West Lothian.

Programmes to improve healthy living:

  • The development and implementation of a local breastfeeding strategy
  • Healthy weaning programmes
  • A breakfast club programme in 24 schools
A number of programmes which promote healthy eating:
  • A 'get cooking' programme
  • Support for, and the development of, a Food Co-op Network
  • Support for the implementation of 'Improve access to fruit and vegetables'.
  • A small grant scheme for the community 'Hungry for Success' in schools.
  • Voluntary groups and training and resources for staff.
