Learning disability service

Services for people with a learning disability in West Lothian are provided by a range of partner agencies along side West Lothian council. Services are available for people of all ages, with a range of care and support needs and their carers. These services include; assessment and care management, day support services, residential care, housing support, respite, independent living, employment support and advocacy.  Access is based on an assessment of need, which is carried out by the Learning Disability Social Work Team. Following assessment of their social care needs, people may choose to make their own arrangements through a Direct Payment.

Working closely in partnership with our colleagues from other agencies, staff intend to further improve the outcomes for people with learning disability and their carers in this area.
