How to get involved

Working together we can make things better. The Public Partnership Forum for Health & Care (PPF HC) is a way for West Lothian residents to get involved in helping develop Health & Care services.

Do YOU care about the development of local health and care services? If the answer is YES then West Lothian Public Partnership Forum for Health & Care needs you? The West Lothian Public Partnership Forum for Health & Care (PPF HC) West Lothian Community Health & Care Partnership (CHCP) aims to develop local health services to suit the health and care needs of our local community. The CHCP works with the WL PPF to take forward development of local health and care services. It is vitally important to have a wide cross section of the community involved in the PPF to ensure local health and care service provision is developed to meet the specific needs of our community. Who are the PPF HC? Although our wider membership is constantly growing we have a core group of 21 people made up of individual members of the public, patients, carers and existing community and voluntary groups. There is some cross over with existing groups enabling partnership working. Partnership working lends a stronger voice and knowledge base to joint projects and topics of mutual interest. What do we do? The Core Group meets every six weeks and these meetings are open to anyone who wishes to attend. We have been set up to help : - Inform you about existing services and any proposed changes taking place in local health and community services - Help consult with the community about how to improve local health and care services - Provide opportunities for members of the community to raise issues about health and care services that are important to them - Involve local people in the planning and decision making process concerning health and care services How does the WL PPF consult with and represent the public/patients views? Our wider members note their interests in a range of topics and are kept informed and consult in a way which best suits them. There are a variety of ways for our members to be involved, you can attend meetings as little or as often as you wish or keep in touch via email, post or telephone. Recently members of the WL PPF were asked to consult on the NHS Lothian Primary Care Modernisation Consultation. Copies of the draft document were sent to all members of the group and comments from members were invited. Members sent their comments to the West Lothian Public Involvement Worker who compiled a report on behalf of WL PPF and forward this to the Primary Care Modernisation Team. This is just one of the many ways in which our members can have their say in how local health and care services are developed. If you would like more information about the PPFHC or would like to become involved please contact: wlppf@wlt.scot.nhs.uk or Julie Cassidy, WL Public Involvement Worker tel: 01506 771 883
