About West Lothian
West Lothian is approximately 15 miles west of Edinburgh, 30 miles east of Glasgow and covers 165 square miles. The main centres of population are Livingston, Bathgate and Linlithgow.
West Lothian’s population is currently (as at August 2006) around 162,000 and growing at the fastest rate in Scotland, with the population projected to rise 20 per cent by 2024, against a Scottish average of around one per cent growth. Unemployment, which is at its lowest level in 25 years, is also below the Scottish average.
