West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership (CHCP) is progressing well according to an interim report by an external evaluation team.
The CHCP, which is jointly managed by NHS Lothian and West Lothian Council, was set up on 1 April 2005 as a direct consequence of the NHS Reform (Scotland) Act 2004.
Its aims are to enable greater efficiency and effectiveness in the design, development and delivery of primary and community health and social care services for people in West Lothian. The evaluation indicates that the CHCP’s strengths lie in its impact on customer service and partnership effectiveness. The report highlighted that the strengths include: developing and delivering activities to reduce inequalities
having a beneficial impact on other non-CHCP health and council services
developing and delivering integrated services that are financially viable and achieving best valueInterim Chair of West Lothian CHCP, Councillor Graeme Morrice said: “I would like to congratulate everyone at the CHCP on the efforts they have made to work together to benefit people in West Lothian. The report is a positive and encouraging evaluation of the work undertaken so far by the CHCP. Work is ongoing to develop opportunities to further join up and improve services.” Bob Anderson, Interim Chair NHS Lothian, said: “This positive report is great news for the people of West Lothian and the CHCP.
