West Lothian Council is backing plans for a new £6 million health and community complex at Fauldhouse.
The council’s policy, partnership and resources committee has welcomed the construction of a purpose-built partnership project providing a full range of community and leisure facilities.
West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership has secured funding totalling £3.05 million for the new development. Another £327,000 has been confirmed from the European Regional Development Fund. West Lothian Council has also allocated £1.10 million from its capital budget. The new development, which will replace the existing health centre, will be erected adjacent to the community centre and library in Fauldhouse. “ This is an excellent partnership project which will greatly benefit the people of Fauldhouse,” said Council Leader Graeme Morrice. “ A range of new health, community and leisure facilities will be provided on a single, centrally located site. “ Confirmation of funding from the European Regional Development Fund and the Scottish Executive’s primary and community care modernisation programme for a replacement health centre has created an opportunity for the council to become involved in the provision of integrated health and social services at Fauldhouse. “ A new campus can be designed which will encourage joint working and the effective delivery of services by bringing together those who provide community based health and social care. “ The new development will provide improved access to integrated health, social, fitness and employment information services all under one roof.” Councillor Neil Findlay of Fauldhouse added: “ This project will positively affect everyone in Fauldhouse once it is completed. It will ensure that public services are delivered together to the benefit of the whole community.” Ends
