Fauldhouse is set to benefit from a new £5 million Health and Community Campus.
Funding has come from the Scottish Executive - Primary and Community Care Premises Modernisation Programme - £2.55 million; West Lothian Council; and Lothian and Borders Police. The new facility, one of the biggest partnership projects of its type in Lothian, will provide a comprehensive range of health, well-being and leisure services, including: two GP practices,
a dental surgery,
a pharmacy,
a swimming pool,
leisure centre,
library,
café, and
on-site police presence. Local councillor for Fauldhouse, Neil Findlay said: “This is fantastic news. The new facilities will be a real boost for the whole community. Partnership working will allow people to visit one location for a range of services.” Bob Anderson, chair of the West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership, said: “This is an exciting partnership project. The existing health centre is 25 years old and it will now be replaced with a facility which is fit for the 21st century.” Convener of the council’s Health and Care Committee, Councillor Bruce Ferrie added: “We have seen the success of Strathbrock Partnership Centre. The Fauldhouse Health and Community Campus will take this model a step further by incorporating leisure facilities. This project underlines our commitment to partnership working and co-locating public services. It is expected that work on the new centre will start in 2007, with completion due in 2008/09. Ends
