West Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership is a partnership between NHS Lothian and West Lothian Council developed to further enhance the delivery of integrated health and social care services to the people of West Lothian.

Under the Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act 2014 new arrangements need to be put in place for the delivery of health and social care.

The Act replaces the previous community health partnership arrangements (CHCP in West Lothian) and requires health boards and local authorities to delegate some of their functions to a new body.

In West Lothian this new body is West Lothian Integration Joint Board (IJB) which has a separate and distinct legal identity from West Lothian Council and NHS Lothian.

The functions that will be delegated from 1 April 2016 are set out in the West Lothian Integration Scheme and include adult community health services, adult social care services and some hospital services.

West Lothian IJB is responsible for the governance, strategic planning and community planning in relation to adult health and social care services.

New arrangements will be put in place for the governance, strategic planning and community planning in relation to children's services.

The services that were in the West Lothian Community Health and Care Partnership (CHCP) will continue to be operationally managed by the joint Director post.
